Lisbon is one of the oldest cities of Europe. According to legends, Lisbon was founded by Ulysses himself. Occupied by Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans, Lisbon was one of the most important harbours in the Roman Empire. After the Romans, Lisbon was occupied by the Visigoths and in 714 invaded by the Moors and finally conquered by the Portuguese in 1147.
